The lower the odds (e.g. 1.25), the bigger the favourite — a ৳500 bet yields only ৳125 profit, with a total return of ৳625.
Back bet means supporting a team to win — like a regular bookmaker bet. Lay bet means backing a team to lose — you take on the role of the bookmaker. At decimal 2.00 odds, if you Back team A with ৳1,000 and team A wins, you profit ৳1,000; if they don't win, you lose ৳1,000. If you Lay, and team A doesn't win, you profit ৳1,000; if they win, you owe ৳1,000 (before commission).
In handicap betting, the weaker team is given a virtual advantage (runs/wickets) to make the odds roughly equal for both sides. Say team A is stronger — team B is given +20 runs as a handicap. Now even if team A wins by just 10 runs, team B is still ahead with the handicap applied. The result is decided by adding the handicap to the score; no specific stake or return can be guaranteed.
